Three words that best describe Trevlyn Lezama are humble, positive, and determined. After losing his mother in a fatal car accident at the age of 7, Trevlyn relocated from Brooklyn, New York to Trinidad & Tobago, where he was raised by his grandparents and uncle. Trevlyn's career with 96.1 WEFM began on his birthday, 11 September, 2006, with a Monday overnight from 12 am to 3 am. Through hard work and dedication, and with the guidance of the most experienced in the industry, Trevlyn has become a rising star on 96.1 WEFM. Dubbed "the voice of the new generation" Trevlyn has been able to triumph over the adversity in his life. He keeps the nation entertained with his warmth and energy as he lights up the airways with Cha-Cha from Dragon Sounds on Saturdays from 4 pm to 7 pm.
He's a busy man. In Trinidad, Trevlyn graces the mic at Zen (Wednesday and Friday), Alchemy, Fifth Element, Palace, and Sting (Thursday and Saturday). On Sundays, you might catch him on the Treasure Queen for some of the many boat rides. One can also find him at various outdoor events and parties. He's been blessed with opportunities to play in England, Grenada, Barbados, and Antigua, and anticipates gigs in DC, Boston, Miami, New York, and Atlanta on the way.
Trevlyn would love to continue to excel in the field and feels blessed to be able to do something he loves. The young star continues to be motivated by the thought that many people never receive the opportunities that he's received at such a young age. He never wants to stop learning about the various facets of the ever-growing and ever-changing industry.
His favorite memory is playing in England among England's top juggling DJs. That night, the English DJs played last, leaving Trevlyn to spin at 4:30 am. DJs and their peeps stood at the side of the stage at the Tudor Rose (Freedom 2009) to see who Trevlyn would do. Many Trini's in England had heard of Trevlyn, but did truly know who he was. When Trev's DJ, Keinon (aka Die Hard) started to play a track by a local artiste named Gappy Ranks and everyone started having a great time, the duo took everyone by surprise. The crowd couldn't get enough. Trevlyn and Die Hard played until 7:30am when the lights came on and bouncers were sent to eject the duo from the stage.
When he's not in the studio, Trevlyn enjoys chilling at home on the net and playing video games on his PS3. His favorite food: corned beef, rice, and mauby (yumm). His pet peeve: those who don't tell the truth. Trevlyn still gets nervous before every gig and says, "it still feels like my first time." He wants to continue to be a positive role model for younger ones who contact him on a regular. He has plans to open two charities to assist those less fortunate in getting medical assistance.
Trevlyn says, "Chase the dream. Don't chase the money!"
