Rodney ‘Fireball’ King has risen to the top of the ladder in Local Radio announcing and broadcasting. He is considered to be one of the most prolific voices on radio today. This former straight A student had his head in both the books and the music industry while growing up. He was so determined to follow his dreams that immediately after completing schoool Rodney made moves to initiate himself into the radio world.
Rodney is a very humble individual who has over the years gained ample experience and respect. His dreams were truly realized when he was offered a spot on TnT’s number one station working the ‘The Greatest Show’ every Monday through Thursday at 6pm to 9pm, ‘Fire Friday from 1pm straight to 4pm and ‘Dancehall Good2We’ on Saturday nights from 7pm to9pm and “We Sundays” 12 to 4pm.
He has been perfecting his art for thirteen years first starting at Calypsonian Lord Superior’s, Superior Radio, the then moved on to 98.9 YESFM but didn’t stay long there because he would go on to find his home at 96.1 WEFM. Apart from being one of the top announcers on 96.1 WEFM’s roster Rodney has branched out and has a podcast which can be found at www.Rodneyfireballking.podomatic.com. He has also dabbled with events management, hosted concerts and been the official voice for different companies, events and products.
Announcing is a profession King has dreamt about since he was a young boy he understands the impact his persona has on his listeners and hence he prides himself on being, positive, modern, entertaining with his distinctive voice, high energy and unique style but at the same time with an air of professionalism and caution in the messages he sends to his listeners. Rodney ‘Fireball’ King has credited Rennie Bishop and Stanley Augustus as his role models. And he himself has morphed into a role model to the youths of Trinidad and Tobago over the years.
He grew up in Morvant and went to Belmont Boys Secondary school, where he excelled in academics and also played for the school’s cricket team. When he is not in the studio entertaining the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago, Rodney ‘Fireball’ King enjoys spending time with his kids and playing sports.
