Diego

Diego hails from the southland; he grew up in Marabella and Vistabella, but was born in Greene Acres San Fernando.

Many teens his age got carried down the wrong path when they were growing up. But Diego was different, he opted to play sports and become a scout, experiences which taught him discipline and helped him stay focused and on the right path.

As a scout he represented Trinidad in three scout jamborees playing football.

He had a bright and budding sporting career which was cut short when he suffered a hip injury from a car accident.

From one career choice to the other, Diego has been Deejaying for the past 7 years.

He grew up listening to Sparrow, Lord Nelson, Brigo, Johnny King Machel Montano, Bennie Man, General Degree, Buju Banton, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, El De Barge, and was inspired by Dee jay’s like Ishmael the Demolition, Teddy Mohammed Clyde The Outlaw.

His DJ influences helped him realize that he had a passion for music.

In addition to being a DJ, Diego has also had the opportunity to manage and coordinate musical events and shows at clubs, theaters and stadiums around the country.

He also worked as a junior graphic artiste at J.D.J images, and at age sixteen started a training programme at Sagicor Life Limited, he left Sagicor at eighteen to focus on his music, becoming the resident dj at Shashell’s night club. In addition to Shashell’s he was a DJ at club genesis, Southern Edge and platinum.

His dreams of being on the number one station gave him the drive to make a demo and send into 96.1wefm.

His demo got selected to compete in the Dj Warz competition where he placed second and got a slot on air.

Diego has dreams of opening his own nightclub and producing music. But his main focus remains taking his listeners on the musical journey they love.

Apart from ribs, he loves Indian delicacies and enjoys anything with sada roti especially tomatoes choka.

When he is out of the 96 studio, Diego likes to visit family and create his own back yard limes, he also enjoys playing his video games and spending time with the children in his community. He is relaxed and loves spending time with his girlfriend but the most relaxing time for him is alone in his room with music as his companion.

His motivation comes from above. And he loves challenging himself to work harder, because being number one is nothing if he isn’t on top of his game.
