With a dad involved in DJing/ broadcasting and a mom who was a singer in the Lydians choir, it was only natural for Christian better known as CHACHA to follow the trend. Growing up CHACHA learned to play the piano and drums, he even got involved in Parang as a cuatro and box bass player. Christian’s true love became DJing. He was introduced to the art of DJing with the influence of DJ Ez Roc from the Music House crew. He further developed his skill by listening to DJs like Funkmaster Flex and Ishmael the Demolition Man.
In his desire to elevate his skill he attended the Scratch DJ Academy in New York where he was further influenced by djs like EXCESS, Q Bert and DJ Rob Swift.
After being taught by DJ EZ ROC he started DRAGON SOUND in 1999 and then went on to start his radio career in 2009 through the DJ Warz competition held by 96.1 WEFM.
CHACHA has had to privilege of playing at many local events and clubs such as Base, Anchorage, Tsunami, Sting Night Club, Freedom the event, Unfaithful a very successful local party and Eeen. He has also gone beyond the shores of Trinidad and Tobago to play at places like Grenada, England, New York, New Jersey and other places.
When he is not causing it in the 96.1 WEFM studios, he plays at parties and events with his DJ crew DRAGON SOUND and he likes to spend time with his family and friends. CHACHA also likes to dabble with the paint brush now and then occasionally painting a painting or two.
Christian would like to get more involved with the youths and their development and he also likes the idea of spreading the art of djing on a wider scale.
He has hopes of someday soon representing Trinidad and Tobago in the Technics World DJ Championships and making a name for himself worldwide.
Chacha thinks that music is too universal to be ignored and with that being said his motivation lies in the desire to be as creative as possible with music while making the people happy. He views himself as a servant of the people, and the more he makes them happy, the more happiness comes his way.
When asked about getting nervous while playing, he admits to the nerves in the early stages, but at he continued practicing he gained more confidence in himself and now it’s a simple as having fun doing what he does best.
Chacha says; Focus can lead to creating something beautiful and it is more fulfilling than the common mans distractions.
