Assassin

Justin Singh distinctly remembers Michael Jackson’s greatest hits album being the first cassette he ever owned, a cassette he would continuously have to “dub” over because he was always stretching it out. Justin fondly refers to this memory as the exact point he realized music was his passion. From early on in his child hood, he started listening to various types of music because his dad was an avid music lover. A lot of 80’s disco music would be the source of Justin’s musical influences as he got older.

Justin Singh is a Diego boy, or, if you want to be precise; he was born and bred in Diamond Vale, residing on the same street with popular DJ Hypa Hoppa. Justin practiced playing music under the guidance of Hypa and first started playing at 96.1 WEFM in 2002 when Hypa Hoppa who was a member of Radioactive brought him on as a rookie to work with them.

The rookie definitely did all the right things because 96.1 WEFM has been his home away from home for the past 8 years. On the day that Hypa Hoppa initiated Justin into the 96.1 WEFM family, he introduced the budding DJ as “The Silent Assassin” and the name has since stuck with him.

Since breaking out on the scene; Assassin’s career as a Disc Jockey sky-rocketed. He went on to become a member of Associate Degree sound-system in 2004. Being a member of Associate Degree gave Justin the opportunity to play at many major concerts across the length and breadth of Trinidad and Tobago.

Assassin has played at numerous nightclubs locally including Club Coconuts, Zen night club, Sting, he is also the resident DJ at 51 degrees nightclub. His favorite Djing memory was playing for Tony Matterhorn during a sound clash which was held in Trinidad back in 2004.

He has also been blessed with the opportunity to showcase his talent on the international scene playing in Toronto, New York, Miami and he also toured the Caribbean, of which the island of Tortola was his favorite.

This Chinese food lover’s dream is to continue expanding his career as an international DJ and to Travel the world doing what he loves the most. Hennessy is his drink of choice and judgmental people is his pet peeve. He also loves to relax and play football when he is not hard at work in the studio.

Though he still gets a bit nervous before playing sometimes he easily calms the nerves by feeding off the vibe from the crowd at the party.

Music is his passion and being able to mix different beats and genres keeps him motivated and dedicated. The reaction from the crowd when he performs fuels him because for him it’s an amazing feeling when people enjoy his set.

Assassin appreciates his good fortune to be in the position he is today and he gives all thanks to the almighty every day. His family and close friends are his support system… Assassin says bless and love to all the fans and supporters.
