Police are denying reports which claim they were tardy in dealing with an incident near the eastern entrance of the stage at the Queen’s Park Savannah.

Police  spokesman Sergeant Wayne Mystar, also insisted this morning that there were no gunshots during the incident which created panic among hundreds of masqueraders on the drag around half past eight last night.

It started with a fight between two persons and escalated into a brawl during which there were at least two stabbing incidents.

Sergeant Mystar said this morning that in some instances over the carnival weekend the police could not have responded as quickly to some reports because of the clogged streets in the city.

In other parts of the country police arrested scores of persons for various offences ranging from possession of firearms, narcotics to drunk driving.
