A massive strike action has been averted and an agreement was met between the OWTU and Petrotrin workers. Workers have agreed to a 9 percent wage increase following 16 hours of marathon talks.
OWTU President General Ancel Roget approached the table with a 17 percent increase proposal; however it was eventually negotiated to a 9 percent increase.
Roget is expected to address workers at about this time and a memorandum of understanding will also be signed.
There was hope some compromise would have been reached because of such lengthy talks.
