Kerwin Du Bois may be mashing up the carnival with Bacchanalist, but he says that from deep within ”I am soca” is  his favorite track because it really came from the heart.

Kerwin says he was thinking of good times and how to write a song with a conscious vibe and the melody just started playing in his head over and again

“When yuh feel that the soca done is more soca to come” was the first line that came to him.

He explained that just as the song started to form in his head Patrice Roberts called on him for some songs and he decided to send “I am soca as one of the samples, from which she could choose her songs.

But he put a tag to that when he asked her to make the choice of doing it solo- or as collaboration.

Her response, via email was simply “Nice song, collaboration.” And so, I am soca was born!
